Homemade Dog Food Recipe created for the NC Sweetpotato Commission by @lifeofdaxshepherd and his human, Tricia

WHAT YOU NEED: • 7 lbs. lean ground beef (90/10) • 4 cups brown rice • 4 cups water • 4-5 medium NC sweetpotatoes, peeled • 4-5 medium carrots • 1-1/2 cups fresh green beans

WHAT YOU DO: 1. Prepare rice per product instructions.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT: • Rice steamer or Instant Pot • Food processor

(For instant pot, rinse rice in a fine mesh strainer until water runs clear. Combine rice and water and cook for 26 minutes on rice setting. When done, manually release pressure and let rice sit in covered pot for 20 more minutes.) 2. While rice is cooking, brown ground beef on stovetop and drain fat. 3. While beef is cooking: • Wash and chop vegetables and set green beans aside. • Combine sweetpotatoes and carrots in a pot and cover with water. • Bring to a boil, reduce heat and continue boiling for 6 minutes. • Add green beans and boil for another 4 minutes. • Carefully strain water from cooked vegetables. Set aside. 4. Allow all ingredients to cool. 5. Combine ingredients in a food processor in batches using: • 3 parts beef • 2 parts vegetables • 1 part rice (This will need to be done in several batches to avoid overcrowding the work bowl.) 6. Blend for 5-10 seconds until combined. 7. Portion out per your dog’s feeding guidelines. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for 2-3 months. 8. Boop your dog’s nose and tell them to enjoy!

Yield: 24 cups
